Maplelawn Farmstead Presents
Beginner Bee Keeping Workshops!

 

Presented by Mark Walters, local Zionsville Beekeeper Enthusiast!

 

Mark is in his 4th year of bee keeping in the Village of Zionsville.
He is eager to share his experiences as a beginning bee keeper and
assist those who are interested in pursuing this rewarding hobby.

Choose your Bee Keeping Workshop(s) and reserve your spot:

Workshop #1 - Introduction to Beekeeping - 10AM - 1.5 Hours

Topics will include "The Honey Bee", "History of Honey Bee Keeping", "How to get started" and "Do's and Don'ts" for beginners.
Hands on "hive tour" is included which includes Hive inspection, Queen identification. Maplelawn Farmstead will be open for walking tours.

Workshop #2 - Honey Harvesting - 10AM - 1.5 Hours

Topics will include "Frame Extraction", "Cap Removal", "Extraction Tank Overview" and "HONEY Extraction".

Workshops will be run rain or shine EXCEPT for Severe Weather. No Protective Equipment is required.

Kids and teens under the age of 15 are invited to join us for free! Must be at least 8 years of age and closely supervised by a guardian due to the nature of the presentations.
Covid-19 guidelines for Boone County, IN will be in place (social distancing, masks, etc.)

Rental of the Historic Site are also available throughout the year.
